Publish in the Australian Occupational Therapy Journal
11:05 AM - 12:00 PMPresentation summary
Occupational Therapists are uniquely positioned to contribute valuable insights and evidence to the scholarly literature, yet many face barriers when attempting to publish their work. Whether it's a case report, quality improvement initiative, or clinical research study, translating frontline experience into a peer-reviewed publication requires more than clinical expertise. A solid understanding of the publishing process is essential for transforming clinical insights into impactful scholarship. This session aims to provide Occupational Therapists with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to successfully publish in scholarly journals. Attendees will learn:
• How to identify the right journal for clinical content;
• What editors and reviewers look for in clinical manuscripts;
• Strategies for writing compelling manuscripts;
• Ethical considerations; and
• The peer review process.
Through practical examples and interactive discussion, this session will aim to demystify academic publishing to encourage clinicians to share their work with the broader Occupational Therapy community.
