Making AI Work for You

10:40 AM - 11:35 AM

Presentation summary

Introduction:
Paperwork, compliance and communication demands continue to grow across occupational therapy, often at the expense of client time and clinician wellbeing. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers a practical way to reclaim time, streamline documentation and reduce burnout risk, but only when used safely and purposefully. This workshop focuses on using AI to work smarter, reduce admin load and stay human in an increasingly digital practice landscape.

Learning Objectives:
1. Explore practical, ethical ways to use AI for workflow efficiency.
2. Recognise how to maintain clinical reasoning and human connection when integrating AI tools.
3. Develop a simple, personalised action plan for introducing one AI-supported workflow in daily practice.

Approach for Audience Engagement:
Participants will work through short scenarios, guided reflection and peer discussion to identify one administrative or workflow challenge in their own setting. Using structured activities, they will map possible AI supports, evaluate risks and outline first steps for safe implementation. Group debriefs will highlight lessons learned and collective strategies.

Relevance to Occupational Therapy Practice:
By translating AI into tangible, values-aligned strategies, this workshop supports OTs to embrace innovation without compromising care. Attendees will leave with practical ideas to save time, reduce cognitive load and apply technology in ways that protect both professional integrity and the human side of therapy.
