JobAccess: Your partner in building disability confidence
Presentation summary
Occupational therapists play a vital role in enabling participation and inclusion in all aspects of life, including employment. Work is a key determinant of health and well-being, yet people with disability continue to face barriers to entering and thriving in the workforce. This session, delivered by JobAccess on behalf of the Australian Government, explores how JobAccess can support OTs to influence workplace practices and advocate for inclusive employment strategies—such as implementing workplace adjustments and building modifications.
The presenter will discuss why disability inclusion makes good business sense, covering the benefits of diverse teams, the realities of workplace adjustments, and how these can often be low-cost or cost-free. You’ll also learn about government supports such as the Employment Assistance Fund, which provides financial assistance for workplace adjustments, and the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator, which partners with employers to make recruitment more accessible.
